Ninth Annual African-American Youth Heritage Day

2017 African-American Youth Heritage Day

This year’s African-American Youth Heritage Day had our best turnout yet with over 500 students participating in presentations, fabulous speakers, college booths, workshops, music and dancing!

We changed venues this year to the Donna R. Liggins Recreation Center.

This venue change was supported our co-sponsor Tucson Parks & Recreation, who donated the facility. Thanks go to Tucson City Council Woman Karin UhlichDonna R. Liggins. Thanks so much!

TUSD, our largest school district, also played the role of co-sponsor through the African American Student Services Department (AASSD), providing printing, our keynote speaker and audio equipment and support. Thanks go to Jimmy Hart, President of AASSD!

Workshops featured the following choices for students that they picked in advance:

Career Choices in Law
Career Choices in Education
Career Choices in Medicine
Career Choices in Engineering
Career Choices as Entrepreneurs
Career Choices in Arts & Entertainment
Division 1  – College Bound Student Up-dates
Career Choices – Not College Bound

Many thanks to our workshop presenters!
